SCHS Class of 1980 Class Bulletin - March 2008
Greetings Fellow Class Members!
Thank goodness, February is finally over! For such a short month, it seems so long, especially to those of us here in the colder climates! March is a month of change, from the grip of old man winter to the milder weather of spring. We were blessed again with about a foot of snow last night.
February is time for our Annual Contribution Appeal. Last month members should have received a bulletin reminding everyone about the fund appeal. The appeal is ongoing and there is still time to make a contribution if you haven't already. Some members have already sent in their donations, you can too. Please make out your check to the SCHS Class of 1980 and mail it to: Bryan Sapienza, 113 Pleasant Street, North Adams, MA 01247. You will receive an e-mail acknowledging your contribution when we receive your check. Your contributions are used entirely to fund the hosting costs of our web page.
Your opinion counts! Please let me know what you like or dislike about our SCHS Class of 1980 Web Page. This page belongs to all class members and your input is valuable to me. Are there features you would like to see added to the site? Are there things that you think should be removed? Please let me know! The addition of the Photo Album page was an idea from a member, so if you can think of something pass it along. One idea circulating right now is the addition of a faculty page, much on the same idea of the Alumni Pages, but with just the faculty and staff of the school that were present during our time at the Creek. What do you think?
Several members have asked me about getting replacement copies of the 1980 Yearbook. As of right now, I do not know of any extra copies of the yearbook in existence. One member lost hers in a house fire, another just lost it in a move sometime after graduation. I am planning to make a few phone calls, and contacting, Mr. Charles Allen, to see if there are any extra copies out there. I was on the yearbook staff in our senior year, and I do not remember if there are any extra copies. I do know that we sent several courtesy copies out to various places, such as the Port Orange Police, the school library and such. When I do find out any information I will pass it along. Meanwhile, if anyone needs to have a photo or something from the yearbook, let me know, I can scan items from my copy. I did look at possibly scanning my copy of the yearbook and saving it as an Adobe PDF file, but my scanner is too small for the pages and it is a monumental task for me at the present time. If that does become a possiblity, we could provide extra copies of the yearbook on CD.
After several years of designing and publishing graphics for our web page, I am running thin on ideas and am asking for your help. I am asking any member with an artistic flair if they would be interested in designing background artwork for our site. The artwork drawings or painting can be in any medium, pen, pencil, crayon, pastels, acrylics, watercolors, oils, electronic, etc. The finished piece must be scannable, no larger than 8 1/2 x 14". The artwork may be scanned and submitted via e-mail, using the highest resolution possible. If any member is interesting in creating some background artwork, please let me know. Your creation will receive full recognition on the page in which it is published.
Lastly, a quick reminder to all members to keep your e-mail information current and up to date. When you change your e-mail address please let us know as soon as possible. When your e-mail address is no longer valid, your little yellow mail icon on the Alumni Page is changed from yellow to gray. Don't let your icon turn gray, update your address today!
Well that's all for now! Spring is just around the corner, it can't come soon enough! Have a great weekend everyone and be sure to stay in touch!
Sincerely, Bryan Sapienza SCHS Class of 1980 http://www.sprucecreek1980.com
