30th Reunion - A Great Success!

     The SCHS Class of 1980 held it’s 30th reunion at the Daytona Beach Resort, July 23rd and 24th, 2010.  It was a great event, seeing people that we haven’t seen in many years. The reunion committee consisting of Laurie Marcus, Janice Dunn, Chuck Bailey, and Bonnie Sagraves did an excellent job putting together this event. Both nights went very well, although plans did change a bit Friday night from the outside venue, into the hotel lounge.  Saturday night was very nice as well, the meal was excellent, there was a good mix of people and it was just an awesome time!  Thank you Laurie, Janice, Chuck, and Bonnie for helping put it all together!
     I have not yet posted photos on the public website, however, if you are a friend of mine on Facebook, you may view my reunion photos there. It will be a little more time before I get the pictures up on the website, due to time constraints and other factors.  I will send out a bulletin when I get a little more time.

Future of the SCHS Class of 1980 Website:  July 29, 2010

     This past weekend, I received a lot of very positive feedback on our official class website.  Putting this website together has been a labor of love, and at time a lot of work, keeping it updated and current.  But it was time well spent, I enjoyed putting this together, it’s brought a lot of old friends together and it was worth every moment I have spent at the computer keyboard. It’s hard to believe, but this website has been up and running for over 10 years. Visitations have declined over the past couple of years, folks lose interest, or just plain forget that the site is here.  Other social media such as Facebook and MySpace have become very popular and have taken some of the emphasis away from privately published web pages such as this.
     In the next few weeks, I plan to come to a decision on whether or not to keep this site, or take it down and post the material to a Facebook Page. In the last couple of years, I have found myself with less time to maintain the site as much as I would like to. Putting this site together does take a fair bit of time.  It’s not that I don’t wan’t to do the site anymore, it’s just that the time I have to do it is getting less and less each year.  Our domain name www.sprucecreek1980.com will expire in February, 2011.  Before then, I have to make a decision on whether to keep this site or move the material to Facebook and let this go. If I do plan on maintaining the site, it will be moved to a different host, primarily to keep costs down.  Right now we are hosted by a small Internet Service Provider in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.  They have been fairly reliable, but they do have their moments.
     When I come to a decision on the future of the site, I plan to make an announcement regarding it’s future by November, 2010.  Thank you for your continued support.
